We made it!

So, as many of you know, we finally made it to Rome a little over a week ago. We had a couple long plane rides and an aggressive taxi ride dodging mopeds before getting to Trastevere and meeting our Italian-only speaking landlord! When we were finally in our apartment and unpacked, it was the most unbelievable feeling to realize we were HERE.

Our apartment is everything we expected it would be, except that we don’t have A/C (but nobody really does here so we are making the best of it and hoping for cooler weather). We have 2 electric burners and a microwave to cook with, so cooking should be interesting. But, we will learn to enjoy living simply.

Trastevere is our new neighborhood…classic Italy is the best way to describe it. There is always something going on here until about 3am on a daily basis! We are in the center of everything, a ten minute walk in either direction to most of the sights in Rome and about 100 feet from the Tiber River. David has backpacking legs, and it felt like we must have walked 10 miles/day seeing everything in Rome the first few days we were here… which was definitely worth it!
